I often hear, and use the saying “It takes a Village.” This is one more phrase I understand all too well as a mom of four kids, two puppies, and I’ll even include my husband in the mix! THAT’S a handful!
You might say we have our own little village. This village is phenomenal and I am beyond blessed by the family I share a home with. We have an abundance of faith, love, and compassion. It’s not always butterflies and rainbows though. There are days that are definitely challenging, stressful and emotional.
No matter the moment, I praise the Lord and seek guidance, especially when it comes to teaching our kids valuable lessons. I am especially fond of Proverbs 22:6, as I think about the children in my village. “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
One of my favorite things about a village is how many extensions and types there are: extended family, friends, coworkers, church, and the list could go on and on.
Today I want to reflect on the phenomenal village of my local family friends. Over this past year of this pandemic, my village of friends has grown and strengthened. It’s not just amazing other bad ass mommas, but their husbands are pretty fantastic too. There’s even a bonus – their kiddos are awesome and so fun to be around, and all of our village children get along so well and have great friendships too! These relationships that have blossomed have been a huge blessing.
As I reflect on scripture, I wholeheartedly believe that the Lord has placed these individuals in my life for a reason. They have become an extension of my family which I love dearly. Hebrews 13:1 tells us “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.”
My hope for you all, is that you surround yourself with a village of amazing people like I have. Find a Village that lifts you up, prays for you, fun to be around, shares in your celebrations and helps you with your challenges. I shall leave you with this… “Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.” 1 Peter 3:8
I’m glad your village has grown; it is such a blessing that should not be taken for granted.
